Get busy in the big city: transporting two 155 ton transformer tanks to Toronto’s Copeland Station

Have we mentioned we love a challenge? Like moving 300 tons of transformers through Canada’s busiest urban centre?

These massive transformers were discharged from an ocean-going vessel at the Port of Toronto and then placed into storage.

Using two hydraulic platform trailers and just clearing the underside of the Gardiner Expressway, Equipment Express transported the transformers to Toronto Hydro’s Copeland Station.

As usual, we arranged all permitting, private and police escorts, traffic control and inspection and precision monitoring of the TTC’s underground tunnel along the route.

When we arrived at our final destination, we hoisted the transformers into the station using two large hydraulic mobile cranes. Once inside the station, they were transported on a self-propelled hydraulic platform trailer and then set onto foundations using hydraulic gantry. Job done!
